Still Sunday Just learned they bombed our side of the border If we go to war, civil or other I wonder if they'll still want us to take UPS calls? I feel like I'm in a cartoon I guess for Americans it's like Imagine Mexico or Canada were being wiped off the face of the Earth by let's say Russia-- and you're just On the bus to work And the Mexicans or Canadians in the states are having breakdowns You hug them, everyone says it's awful and they care And it's frightening that it's all happening next door But then your president says, it's messy and has nothing to do with us He says "Stay strong Canada/Mexico! Stand your ground. Don't let them take your homes. But more importantly don't move here because that's what the Russians want." And then you turn on the BBC and it says, Mexicans/Canadians are all actually psychopathic killers. And Europe and China agree. Australia agrees. Every government agrees? You see videos of Russian soldiers dancing and Russian young people laughing at dead Mexicans and Canadians Your European and Australian friends don't want to take a side They're not qualified to talk about Mexicans or Canadians, they don't know enough about Russia, they have lives to live Besides, France 24 and the BBC say Russia was provoked It's like that And lots of dead children, charred kids, kids in pieces Every day people are sharing images and videos of tiny bodies, blue skinned babies Every day because they have names and they're loved and they're too graphic for the world news They're distasteful And You're just on the bus Doing paperwork I'm safe, I have water, food and electricity And I feel crazy, and I want to vomit all the time So how do they feel? How do the ones with family trapped there feel? Thank you for calling, how can I help? What's the point? |
