Taken to bed, bird identification! Pain management is eating all my energy Pretending to be a fussy Victorian My baba and brother have been very sweet Lots of popcorn, dark chocolate and ginger cinnamon tea The hot water bottle helps A LOT I've recently learned an ear massaging technique that helps get you out of fight/flight mode and that helps regulate breathing and digestion too I haven't been able to feed the birds (baba and broski are still filling the feeders don't worry) but I had time to do some research Bird ID results: The little ones are house sparrows, and now I know how to distinguish their sex-- our group is mostly female. They're super social and chatty (which explains why they hang out with the wang and yowang and chirp at me). The females are usually dominant :) They're originally Egyptian but have taken over the world because they'll eat anything and do well in urban environments (don't accidentally feed them choco biscuits just because they can eat toast crumbs) The wild pigeon is called a laughing dove, they mate for life and otherwise are very solitary which explains why it's always on its own. I'm happy you can see their beautiful color and pretty tail now And finally, drum roll, the wang and yowang! They are the white spectacled bulbul! The females are a bit smaller so I guessed right. They're supposed to be bug eaters but supplement with seeds and fruit sometimes. There must have been a bug shortage when the wang was being territorial over the feeders (or maybe it was just loneliness, his behavior changed when the yowang showed up) I'm excited for the next feeding session Hopefully I'll be better in a few days |
